REUPSpot Live – Ensane, Loz Tha Lyric3st, & First Day of School @ The White Swan – 2.18.12

For this episode of REUPSpot Live, we were out at Ensane’s show at the White Swan, in Houston Texas. The show featured performances by Loz Tha Lyric3st, First day of School, and Ensane, with Jay ¢ee on the 1s and 2s.

First time I had been out to the White Swan. I hear about events there a lot, though. I believe the legendary K-Rino does a lot of shows there. From the flyers plastered about the bar, it’s clear they also have a decent amount of Punk Rock shows there.

First act, was Loz Tha Lyric3st. The “Mexicannibal MC”. This guy can spit. I’ve seen him jump into the Turnin Headz freestyle session before, and was impressed with his constant flow, vocab. Sick, sick vocab. Good set, though I wish he had a bit more energy on stage. We recently posted his mixtape ‘Street Science’, make sure to check that out, it’s fire.

Next act, who was new to me, was First Day of School. Started their set of with a weed track. One of the guys did not partake, because well..he doesn’t partake. Cool set though. They had a good amount of energy, and it was some good party type of music. They did chant “swag” on one of their tracks though. So, there’s that. I feel the need to quote a Kyle Hubbard track, “If your saying swag, you don’t know what swagger is.” I concur. Artists, please stop this. (This isn’t specific to FDS, though it does apply. Lots of artists do this.)

Closing out the, late, night was Ensane. If you’ve been following REUPSpot, you’re most likely familiar with Ensane. He’s one of the co-hosts of Turnin Headz, THE monthly Houston Hip-Hop Showcase, and has been putting music out for a while. I honestly don’t know if I’ve seen him do a solo set before though. He had a good stage show, with a lot of energy, and crowd connection. Wish the crowd was a bit bigger for him to connect with, but, as anyone involved in shows knows, turnouts vary.

Overall, cool little show. As always, we have pictures and videos below.
